One of Chen's latest video works, The Empty City°ʼnfollows the artist's return to her hometowm of Wanzhou. Most area of the city was submerged under the Yangtze River by the controversial Three Gorges Dam project in 2003. An intensely emotional and personal journey, this work highlights the often destructive consequences of modernisation and globalisation to both individuals and society in general. CHEN QIULIN
